Garth Terlizzi Sr., CRPC®, CPRS®

Senior Wealth Advisor

Garth Terlizzi’s experience spans over 50 years of successful financial and tax planning. Garth graduated from the University of Oklahoma with a BS in accounting and finance in 1973. He immediately began his career as an Internal Revenue Agent with the IRS. His time with the IRS included examining and auditing all types of income tax returns from wealthy individuals to multinational corporations. His work also included working with the Employee Plans Group (pension and profit-sharing division). Along the way, he also taught income tax and accounting at the college level in the evening.

After leaving the IRS with seven years of intense tax experience, his next stop was with Dean Witter Reynolds (now Morgan Stanley) as a stockbroker and financial advisor. He attained the level of Vice President of investments. Then in 1986, he opened his own independent, successful financial and tax practice and was associated with LPL Financial for 33 years. He continues to offer advice on individual, Partnership, and Corporation tax return advice and tax avoidance strategies. In addition, his work included IRS audit representation solving many audit and collection issues. In 2019, he joined WealthPLAN Partners. He works out of his primary office in Lawrence, but from December through April months he spends most of his time working in a home office in Arizona (he returns one week out of each month during that time to work in Lawrence).

In 1995, Garth founded the American Institute of Retirement Planners (AIRP). He developed specialized programs that included personal retirement planning and retirement plan expertise. He sold the institute to the College of Financial Planning a few years later. His certifications were the trademarked predecessor of the CPRC and CRPS designations. Todd Feltz was a founding Board Member of the AIRP.

In his spare time, he and his wife are avid golfers and pickleball enthusiasts. His two children, Garth, Jr., and Marlo are successful parents with his six grandchildren. He loves time spent with his family and his special companion, Sweetie, an English Bulldog.
